SWANA has announced the International Solid Waste Design Competition (SWDC) for 2019. This competition offers teams of students the opportunity to compete and solve “real world” problems that solid waste professionals face.

The theme for this year’s competition is “Evaluating Recycling Rate Metrics and Achieving Recycling Goals”. The SWDC program goals include:

  • Offering students an opportunity to be involved at Wastecon
  • Provide experience in solving solid waste issues in a supportive environment
  • Opportunity to display talents
  •  Networking opportunities with potential future employers

All participating students will receive free conference registrations and a one year SWANA membership (this includes membership to the Hoosier Chapter). There is prize money available for winning team.

Deadline for team submissions is February 1, 2019. More information on the Problem Statement and Protocol, as well as the Submission applications can be downloaded on SWANA’s website.
