It is only January, but unfortunately we have already recorded our first waste-related fatality for the year. On January 25th, a 22-year-old died after rear-ending a garbage truck. The truck was stopped for waste collection on Strawtown Pike in Grant County Indiana. Thankfully, the driver of the truck was not injured. It is unclear if the driver was in the vehicle at the time of the accident. According to Fox 59 News, the truck’s warning lights were on at the time of the crash.
This is a reminder that our drivers and other collection workers must be aware of their surroundings at all times.
