The Hoosier Chapter of SWANA is excited to announce the second Fall Technical Conference. This conference will be a one-day event, held on Thursday, October 3 from 8:00 am until 4:00 pm. There will be a morning and afternoon break with the Chapter annual meeting being held during lunch. This conference is open to members and non-members. Topics will include

  • Identifying meth labs and other illegal paraphernalia that may present a safety risk to solid waste workers – Scott Southerland, Brown County Sheriff
  • SWANA’s advocacy efforts on the Chinese waste import bans and how this impacts the recycling and solid waste industries in the US – Debbie Hackman, Jackson County SWMD
  • Recent topics of interest for sanitary landfills including drones, PFAs and Heat – Tim Bannister, Sesco Group
  • Science behind odor and odor management in the Solid Waste Industry including intelligent odor control – Josh Rembusch, Byers Scientific and Manufacturing
  • Indiana Department of Environmental Management’s perspective on the current and future state of solid waste disposal and recycling in Indiana – Deanna Garner, IDEM

Rooms are available at the Abe Martin Lodge for a discounted rate. There will be a networking event on Wednesday, October 2nd at Hard Truth Hills from 7:00 – 9:00 pm.
